Rev. Ralph Brown announces a new initiative, the first African-American home buyer program focusing on the needs of the African-American community in Charlottesville, Virginia. The program will start with first time home buyer courses, but will also seek to “stop the bleeding,” educating existing families on the need to hold on to their property and pass it on to the next generation.
BankAmerica will partner with RBC Institute to present the home buyer course beginning Wednesday, June 20th from six to seven p.m. The first class will be at the V.O.P. building at 703 Concord Avenue in the Rose Hill neighborhood. The second class will be held on July 11th from six to seven p.m. at BankAmerica’s office in Barracks Road office. The evening will consist of some gospel music by the local group called “God’s Anointed” as well as the State Farm Gospel Choir, a dinner meal at 5:00 pm, and a keynote speech from Commissioner
